We have assembled a panel of leading business and finance experts to equip you with practical tools, strategies and advice geared around business survival.

This session will look at:

  • How can businesses prepare to weather the storm?
  • How viable is your business in the current climate?
  • What does the data say? Looking towards the future in uncertain times

Justin Keen is a Director of Betterco Advisory & Accounting. When Justin Keen opened his 100% Xero, set-fee accounting firm over ten years ago, it was the first of its kind in New Zealand. After years working in traditional accounting firms, he realised the core offering was something clients simply didn’t value. Shifting the focus away from compliance work towards offering advisory services was, at the time, revolutionary, and the model has inspired almost every new firm since. Partnering with the other BetterCo directors was the right next step for Justin. They share core values and bring complementary skills that let them help more and larger clients in a way that brings real value to their businesses and their lives as a whole.

Keaton Pronk is a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner at McDonald Vague Limited Business Recovery Partners. Keaton is experienced with both personal and corporate insolvency and deals with both small to large sized businesses. He has experience across several industries including hospitality management, retail, entertainment, fashion and construction. Keaton is a Chartered Accountant, Licensed Insolvency Practitioner, and member of NZCFI, RITANZ, and INSOL International.

Justin Lester is a Director at Dot Loves Data, one of New Zealand's leading data science firms. Justin was previously the Co-Founder of Wellington's 'Kapai' food chain, which he owned and operated for 10 years and has extensive government and private sector governance and management experience. Justin served as Mayor of Wellington and previously as Deputy Mayor.  He now serves as the Board Chair of Weltec Whitireia, is a Board Member at Otago Polytechnic, Chair of e-commerce platform Storbie and an Ambassador with Simplicity Kiwisaver. Justin has a Masters in Laws from Heidelberg University in Germany and conjoint Laws and Arts degrees from the University of Otago.

Tony Adcock is a restaurant consultant and in-house business mentor at the Restaurant Association. Tony has 40years of restaurant ownership and management under his belt. He specialises in restaurant consulting, assisting clients with design, operations, finance, and budgeting. He is also a Chairperson of the Restaurant Association Education Trust, having been inducted into the RANZ Hall of Fame for service to the industry in 1996.
