Geeling Ching, Soul Bar
Geeling Ching is the Operations Manager at Soul Bar & Bistro, a role she held for the first 12 years of Soul’s life, and one that she has recently returned to. In her words she “does everything no-one else wants to do”! Part of that broad scope is the management of HR/employment for the business, which currently employs 80 staff. She started in hospitality as a dishwasher in a late-night café in Sydney’s Kings Cross, and her career has seen her open an Aussie café in London, a pop-up Kiwi-style restaurant in San Francisco for the 2013 America’s Cup, and a 670-seat live theatre in Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter. She believes that hospitality can be a rewarding, life-long career, and her goal is to indoctrinate as many people as possible into believing the same.
